So, I am constantly looking for new ideas to make reading fun for my son Owen, and yesterday I discovered a gold mine!  Owen is going into second grade and would rather play sports than read.  Fortunately, he doesn’t dislike reading, he just prefers running around.  His other recent interest is music.  He loves finding new songs on itunes and downloading them for our driving enjoyment.  Well, yesterday he and I were singing along with a new song and it hit me!  I told him that since we were uncertain of a lot of the words, we could find the lyrics online and print them out.  Unbelievable!  For almost an hour, we were finding the lyrics to his favorite songs and he was READING them.  In fact, he was carefully reading each line to make sure he knew the right words to sing, and he didn’t even think of it as reading.  We had a blast!  I have a feeling this is going to become a new activity in our house!!
